Answer Question
What Is Roku Smart Home Subscription and How Do I Cancel It?
Out of nowhere, I started seeing a charge labeled “Roku Smart Home subscription” on my account, and I honestly had no clue what it was at first. I wasn’t even aware Roku had a smart home service until I looked into it more. Apparently, it’s connected to features like security cameras, video cloud storage, and motion alerts for Roku smart devices.
Thing is—I never intended to keep the subscription long term. I had a free trial when I bought one of Roku’s smart cameras, and I guess it automatically rolled into a paid plan without much warning. So now I’m trying to figure out how to cancel the Roku Smart Home subscription before I get charged again.
After poking around, I realized this isn’t canceled through the normal my.roku.com subscriptions section like streaming channels. Instead, you have to go to smarthome.roku.com, log into your account, and cancel the subscription from there. It’s a separate system from your regular Roku subscriptions page.
If you’re seeing charges and aren’t sure what they’re for, double-check if it’s part of the Roku Smart Home services. It’s easy to miss, especially if you’ve only ever used Roku for TV streaming. Hope this helps anyone else who’s confused by the extra fees showing up!
