I Want to Cancel My Roku Account, So I’ve decided I’m done with Roku. Not because it’s terrible or anything, but I just don’t use it anymore and I’m trying to cut back on the number of streaming platforms I manage. That said, I’ve got a few questions before I cancel my Roku account completely, especially about what happens to any active Roku subscriptions I still have tied to it.
I logged into my.roku.com and saw a couple of channels still billing me monthly—one of them being Paramount Plus, and another I don’t even remember signing up for. I figure I should cancel those first before closing the account. So I went into the “Manage Subscriptions” tab and canceled each one individually.
But here’s what I’m unsure about: if I delete or deactivate my Roku account without canceling the subscriptions first, do they just keep billing me? I didn’t want to take that chance. So if you’re looking to cancel your Roku account, make sure you unsubscribe from every service first. Roku doesn’t make this super obvious, and it’s easy to assume that deleting your account automatically cancels everything—it doesn’t.
If anyone else has gone through this, did I miss anything? Just trying to make sure I don’t get surprise charges after the fact.
